NEET PG 2024: New Dates Likely Announced by July 1 or 2, According to Dharmendra Pradhan

Noida, 01 July 2024: The revised dates for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024, which was recently postponed, are expected to be announced by July 1 or 2, according to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Speaking to reporters, Pradhan stated that the new schedule for NEET PG 2024 will be revealed by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) within the next two days. Candidates can check the revised date on the official website of NBEMS, natboard.edu.in, once the notification is released.

NEET PG Postponed as ‘Precautionary Measure’

The NEET PG exam, initially scheduled for June 23, 2024, was postponed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on June 21 as a ‘precautionary measure’ considering recent allegations against the integrity of competitive examinations in the country.Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process,” the ministry said in a statement.

Reforms Initiated by National Testing Agency

The postponement of NEET PG 2024 comes amidst ongoing controversies surrounding alleged irregularities in various entrance exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).In response to these issues, the Centre has constituted a panel aimed at overseeing transparent and smooth examination processes through the NTA. Pradhan also mentioned that the NTA has already received new leadership and initiated reforms under former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan.

CBI Investigation and New Legislation

The education minister further revealed that a new law has been formed to address the issue of exam irregularities, and the entire case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).“We have formed a new law to address the issue, and the entire case has been handed over to the CBI,” Pradhan said, adding that the agency has already received the exam paper leak case for investigation.

Rescheduling of Other Exams

Postponement of NEET PG 2024 is not an isolated incident. Several other exams, such as UGC-NET, CSIR UGC-NET, and National Common Entrance Test (NCET), have also been rescheduled due to similar concerns.

UGC-NET, initially scheduled for June 18, will now take place from August 21 to September 4, while the CSIR UGC-NET has been rescheduled for July 25-27. The NCET, postponed just before its June 12 commencement, is now scheduled for July 10.

Maintaining Sanctity of Examination Process

Postponement of NEET PG 2024 and the subsequent rescheduling of other exams highlight the importance of maintaining the integrity and fairness of the examination process.

As the authorities continue their investigations and implement reforms, it is crucial that the revised dates for NEET PG 2024 are announced promptly to minimize further inconvenience to the students.
