June 3, 2024, Prayagraj: The University of Allahabad (AlldUniv) has brought good news for aspiring postgraduate students who have completed their bachelor’s degree in a different subject and wish to pursue their master’s in a new field. Starting this year, students can opt for Anthropology as a non-subject option in the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET), which was previously not included.
With this addition, students now have the choice of 10 non-subject options for postgraduate admission. The online application process for admission to AlldUniv and its affiliated colleges for the new academic session 2024-25 has already begun. Approximately 10,000 seats across 60 subjects will be available for postgraduate admission in the university and its affiliated colleges.
Eligibility and Merit Calculation
Interested students can appear for the entrance exam in both subjects of their final year bachelor’s degree. Additionally, they have the option to choose a non-subject, which is different from their undergraduate subjects. To be eligible for admission in a non-subject, the student’s average marks in both subjects must be equal to or higher than the merit cutoff for the chosen non-subject.
10% Seats Reserved for Non-Subjects
For postgraduate admission, 10% of the seats in each department will be reserved for non-subject applicants. This year, 10 subjects have been included as non-subject options:
- Anthropology
- Hindi
- English
- Medieval and Modern History
- Ancient History
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Economics
Students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Allahabad should take advantage of this opportunity to explore new disciplines and broaden their academic horizons. The inclusion of Anthropology as a non-subject option further expands the choices available to students.
