The reopening of schools in Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming academic year has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 13th, due to the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Chief Minister.
Notice Issued by the Andhra Pradesh Education Department
The reopening of schools in Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming academic year has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 13th, due to the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Chief Minister. To ensure students are well-informed about this change, the Andhra Pradesh education department has issued a notice to all students, urging them to take note of the rescheduled reopening date. This notice aims to prevent any confusion or inconvenience among students and their families.
Delays in Distribution of Educational Kits and Textbooks
While the previous administration provided Jagannanna Vidya Kanuka kits, including textbooks and uniforms, to students in grades 1-10 on the first day of school for the past four years, there might be a delay in their distribution this year. Though textbooks have reached distribution centers, the new education minister in the recently formed government will make the final call on their release.
Comprehensive Educational Kits Prepared by the School Education Department
In preparation for the new academic year, Andhra Pradesh’s education department has proactively stockpiled resources for students. This includes a staggering 3.6 million educational kits, each containing textbooks for all subjects, a TOEFL workbook, a Future Skills book, uniform materials, a school bag, a belt, and an Oxford dictionary. To cater to different learning styles, younger students (grades 1-5) will receive workbooks and pictorial dictionaries, while older students (grades 6-10) get notebooks. Continuing the tradition, textbooks remain bilingual. Notably, this year marks the introduction of English-language textbooks for grade 10, aligning with the shift towards English medium instruction. Additionally, textbooks from grades 3 to 10 boast new, visually engaging cover designs.
CBSE Curriculum and Other Noteworthy Changes
Andhra Pradesh schools gear up for the new year with 3.6 million educational kits distributed, including bilingual textbooks, a TOEFL workbook, a Future Skills book, uniforms, and essential supplies. Notably, 10th-grade textbooks are now available in English to align with the shift in instruction medium, while physical science books transition to art paper for a more engaging experience. Additionally, 8th graders will delve into a new Future Skills course. The CBSE curriculum adoption in some schools brings the NCERT syllabus for social studies (geography, economics, history, and democratic politics) to 10th grade. However, potential policy shifts under the new government are to be considered. As schools reopen, students and educators can expect a well-resourced and potentially evolving academic year.
