On 15 June 2020, under the Self-Reliant India Scheme, the Central Government Satyabhama Portal research.mines.gov.in 2021-22 has been launched. The Satyabhama Portal is a part of the Science and Technology Program Yojana of the Ministry of Mines.

Satyabhama Portal 2022 (Science & Technology Scheme)

Science and Technology Plan for a self-reliant India in mining advancement

Unlike the present system where physical proposals are submitted by scientists/researchers, SATYABHAMA PORTAL Allows online submission of project proposals. In addition, there is an online mechanism for monitoring of projects and utilization of grants.

Researchers can also submit progress reports and final technical reports of projects in electronic format in the portal. A User Manual is also available on the portal outlining the step-wise procedures for submission of project proposals. This portal is integrated with NITI Aayog’s NGO Darpan Portal.

The central government funds educational institutions, universities, national institutions and R&D institutions to implement research and development projects under the Science and Technology Program Scheme of the Ministry of Mines. This is done to promote research in applied geology, mineral exploration, mining and allied areas, mineral processing, optimum utilization and conservation of mineral resources of the country. The portal will enhance efficiency and effectiveness in mining advancement in India and implementation of the Science and Technology Plan for India.

  • Prospect / Exploration for strategic, rare and rare earth minerals.
  • Development of new technology for mineral exploration and mining on land and deep sea to explore and exploit new mineral resources.
  • Research in mining methods. This includes rock mechanics, mine designing, mining equipment, energy conservation, environmental protection and mine safety.
  • Process improvement, operation, recovery and specification of products and reduction of consumption norms.
  • Research in metallurgy and mineral beneficiation techniques for utilizing lower grade and finer size ores.
  • Extraction of value added products from mines, plant tails etc.
  • Development of new alloys and metal related products, etc.
  • Developing low capital and energy saving processing systems.
  • Production of high purity materials.
  • Cooperative research among organizations associated with the mineral sector.
