The Department of Food and Public Distribution under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has sent letters to the State Governments/UTs for inclusion of all eligible persons with disabilities under the National Food Security Act. The families who will be eligible under this scheme will be given Antyodaya ration card, from which they can go to the dealer and buy rice, wheat, chana dal, etc. at a subsidized price. The beneficiaries covered under this scheme will be given food grains at a very affordable cost. 35 kg ration per month to the beneficiary family which includes 20 kg wheat and 15 kg rice. Grain will be provided to the beneficiaries at the rate of only Rs.2 per kg of wheat and Rs.3 per kg of rice. You can also buy sugar at the rate of Rs 18.50 per kg. Objective of Antyodaya Anna Yojana:

Benefits of AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana)

  • Under this scheme, ration will be provided to lakhs of economically weaker families of the country.

Eligibility for Rural Area:

  • Under this scheme those families will be covered whose annual income is up to 15000.
  • Old age pensioners will also be eligible under this scheme.
  • Such laborers who do not have land for cultivation, they will also be eligible under AAY.
  • Small and marginal farmers will also be given the benefit of this scheme.
  • Physically handicapped persons will also be eligible for Antyodaya Yojana.
  • Destitute widows who have no one to earn.
  • Rural artisans or craftsmen such as potters, weavers, blacksmiths, carpenters and slum dwellers are also covered under AAY.

Eligibility for Urban Area:

  • Such families living in urban areas, whose annual income is less than Rs 15 thousand, will get the benefit of this scheme.
  • Daily wagers like rickshaw pullers are one of the beneficiaries under AAY.
  • People selling fruits and flowers on footpath will also be eligible for this scheme.
  • Domestic employers will also get the benefit of AAY.
  • Labor families will also be eligible for this scheme.
  • Snake charmers, rag pickers, cobblers will also get its benefit.
  • Coolie people by profession can also apply for Antyodaya Yojana.
  • Families headed by widows or disabled persons or persons of 60 years of age or above who do not have any assured means of subsistence or social support will get the benefit of AAY.

New rules of Antyodaya Yojana:

In order to take the benefit of this scheme to every needy and right person in the country, former Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan ji has tweeted that under Antyodaya Anna Yojana, 35 kg will be provided per family per month. Along with this, it has also been written in the tweet that who will be the beneficiaries under AAY ration card and priority family (PHH) ration card, it is the responsibility of the state government. State governments have been asked in the tweet to include only needy families under AAY. A unique quota card will be provided to the family of the applicant selected for Antyodaya Parivar for getting Antyodaya Ration Card recognition.

Procedure to apply for Antyodaya Yojana
