14 Killed in Russian Strikes on Kyiv, Zelenskyy Calls for SanctionsSaralnama

On 28 Aug 2025, Russian forces launched a massive drone and missile attack on Kyiv, killing at least 14 people, including three children. Dozens of residential and office buildings were damaged, including the European Union Delegation premises. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack a deliberate killing of civilians and said Russia refuses to end the war, continuing strikes instead. He urged the world to impose stronger sanctions on Moscow to pressure Russia into stopping the war. The EU summoned the Russian envoy after the strike damaged its diplomatic mission. Russia claimed it remains interested in diplomacy but will continue military actions. This attack came amid stalled peace talks and increased Russian advances in Ukraine. Ukrainian leaders seek tougher US sanctions if Russia does not engage seriously in peace efforts. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 17:16 IST; source: link)
