On 26 Aug 2025, Ukraine changed its travel rules to allow men aged 18 to 22 to leave the country freely. This rule was part of martial law since Russia's invasion in Feb 2022, which stopped men aged 18 to 60 from travelling abroad to keep enough soldiers for the army. Now, young men can cross the border without restrictions, including those already abroad. The government says this will help young Ukrainians study and work abroad legally, keeping their ties with Ukraine. Men aged 25 to 60 can still be drafted into the army. This change may affect conscription but aims to give more opportunities to youth. To travel, men must have proper military registration documents. This update shows Ukraine’s effort to balance war needs and education or work chances for young men. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 13:56 IST; source: link)
