On 27 Aug 2025, a gunman opened fire at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis during a school Mass. Two children aged 8 and 10 were killed. Seventeen others, including 14 children, were injured. The shooter fired through church windows with three guns and then took his own life. The gunman was identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, whose mother had worked at the school. Police said the attack was deliberate and blocked some church doors to trap people inside. US First Lady Melania Trump called for behavioural threat assessments to prevent such violence. The community mourns the tragic loss and prays for the injured.
