Supreme Court Orders Probe into Ambani Family's Vantara Zoo in Gujarat
Saralnama

India's Supreme Court has ordered an investigation into Vantara, a large private zoo in Gujarat run by Anant Ambani. The inquiry will check claims of illegal animal acquisition, mistreatment, wildlife law violations, and financial irregularities. Vantara houses about 2,000 animals including elephants, tigers, and reptiles. The court said there was no proof yet but called for a fact-finding probe due to concerns over authorities' actions. The Special Investigation Team of retired judges must submit its report by 12 September. Vantara, opened by Prime Minister Modi in March 2025, is closed to the public and has faced criticism from activists. The next court hearing is on 15 September.
