US President Donald Trump said on 21 Aug 2025 that he spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the India-Pakistan military conflict in May. Trump claimed his intervention helped stop a war and mentioned a phone call with Modi. However, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told Parliament there was no call between Modi and Trump from 22 April to 17 June 2025. The conflict began after a terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, leading to India's Operation Sindoor on 7 May. The four-day conflict ended with a ceasefire on 10 May, agreed bilaterally without third-party involvement. India rejected Trump's claims of mediation. New US tariffs on Indian goods were set to rise on 27 Aug 2025. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 09:10 IST; source: link)
