Australian police are searching for a heavily armed man after two officers were shot dead in Porepunkah, Victoria, on 26 Aug 2025. The officers were executing a warrant related to alleged sexual offences when the shooting happened. The suspect, named Dezi Freeman, 56, is still at large. Police have deployed helicopters, armoured vehicles, and many officers to find him. Locals have been told to stay indoors. A third officer was injured but is expected to recover.
