On 26 Aug 2025, seven current and former Microsoft workers were arrested at the company's headquarters in Redmond, Washington. They held a sit-in protest inside the office of Microsoft President Brad Smith. The protesters demanded Microsoft cut its ties with the Israeli government. They said Microsoft’s cloud software was used by Israel’s military for surveillance on Palestinians. The protest was part of ongoing actions by employees and supporters against Microsoft’s contracts with Israel. Police removed the protesters using harnesses. About 20 activists were arrested in a similar protest last week. Microsoft said it is investigating the use of its software but denied knowing about surveillance of civilians. The company supports political expression but does not allow disruptive protests on its property. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 05:51 IST; source: link)
