On 25 Aug 2025, India and the United States held a virtual 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue. Senior officials from both countries discussed trade, defence, energy security, and counterterrorism. They planned to sign a new 10-year Framework for the India-US Major Defence Partnership. The talks also covered civil-nuclear cooperation, critical minerals, and regional security. Both sides expressed a desire to strengthen ties despite recent trade tensions, including US tariffs on Indian goods. The dialogue aims to prepare for the upcoming ministerial-level 2+2 meeting and promote a safer Indo-Pacific region through the Quad initiative. (Updated 26 Aug 2025, 23:20 IST; source: link)
