How Russia Replenishes Its Military Despite Heavy Losses in 2025
Saralnama

Russia has lost over one million soldiers killed or wounded since February 2022. Despite huge losses, Russia’s army grew from 900,000 to about 1.13 million troops by 2025. The government recruits 400,000 to 500,000 contract soldiers yearly to replace losses. Many new soldiers come from Russia’s Far North, Far East, and prisons. Russia also lost thousands of tanks and vehicles but keeps sending fresh troops to Ukraine. This large recruitment helps Russia maintain its military strength despite heavy casualties. The war continues with high daily losses but Russia tries to keep its forces ready by constant recruitment and equipment replacement. (Updated 26 Aug 2025, 16:25 IST; source: link)
