Paddington the Musical opened in London with a new design of the famous bear. The bear stands about 1.2 metres tall and has wavy caramel fur and a button nose. It wears a blue coat and red hat. The bear is a mix of costume and technology, performed by two artists who bring it to life on stage. The design is inspired by the original book illustrations, not the movie. The musical is directed by Luke Sheppard with music by Tom Fletcher. The creators wanted the bear to feel real and magical, capturing the heart of Paddington’s story.
