On 10 May 2025, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire after four days of fighting. Both sides stopped firing on land, air, and sea from 5 pm Indian time. The ceasefire came after a terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, where 26 civilians died. The US, UK, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia helped in talks. India said the Kashmir issue is a bilateral matter. Pakistan said many countries helped. Both sides still have strict rules like no visas, closed airspace, and no trade. The Indus Waters Treaty is not working for now. Talks between military officers happened on 12 May. Both countries want to discuss different issues. India wants to talk about terrorism and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Pakistan wants to talk about water and Indian-administered Kashmir. The UN welcomed the ceasefire and hopes for lasting peace. There have been some ceasefire violations since the agreement. (Updated 1 Nov 2025, 22:48 IST; source: link)
