India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on 10 May 2025. This came after four days of fighting. The conflict started after a terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. Twenty-six civilians died. Both countries took strong steps after the attack. They stopped visa services, closed their airspace, banned trade, and shut the Attari-Wagah border. India also paused the Indus Waters Treaty. The ceasefire was announced by the US, but India said Pakistan asked for it. Talks between both sides started on 12 May. The UN welcomed the move. Both sides want to discuss different issues. India wants to talk about terrorism and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Pakistan wants to talk about water and Indian-administered Kashmir. The situation is still tense. There have been some ceasefire violations. The last major peace talks were in 2008. (Updated 1 Nov 2025, 21:31 IST; source: link)
