India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on 10 May 2025 after four days of fighting. The ceasefire stops all firing on land, air, and sea from 5 pm IST. Both sides will start talks on several issues soon. The conflict began after a terror attack in Kashmir on 22 April, which killed 26 civilians. The United Nations welcomed the ceasefire and offered support for peace. However, some skirmishes and tensions remain. The ceasefire aims to reduce hostilities and create a better environment for future talks. Both countries still have disagreements over Kashmir and water treaties. The ceasefire was announced with help from the United States and other countries. Military leaders from India and Pakistan will meet again on 12 May to discuss further steps. This ceasefire is a hopeful sign but challenges remain for lasting peace between the neighbours. (Updated 1 Nov 2025, 17:26 IST; source: link)
