The India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) will start on 1 October 2025. This agreement covers trade in goods, services, and investment. It aims to boost trade and create jobs by attracting $100 billion in foreign investment over 15 years. EFTA includes Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. The deal offers market access for many Indian products like machinery, chemicals, textiles, and processed foods. It also focuses on trade facilitation, intellectual property rights, and sustainable development. This is the first Indian trade agreement with a formal commitment to investment and job creation. The agreement is expected to increase exports and strengthen economic ties between India and EFTA countries. (Updated 2 Oct 2025, 16:28 IST; source: link)
