Noida 22 August 2024: In a tragic incident that has left the town of Rudrapur in shock, four people, including a pregnant woman, lost their lives when a speeding car collided with an e-rickshaw. The accident occurred on 21 August, highlighting the growing concerns over road safety in the region.
The Accident
The accident took place on a busy road in Rudrapur, a town in the Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. According to eyewitnesses, the e-rickshaw was carrying five passengers, including a pregnant woman, when a car, reportedly being driven at high speed, lost control and rammed into the rickshaw. The impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw was completely crushed, leading to the immediate death of four passengers.
Victims Identified
The victims have been identified as all residents of Rudrapur. The pregnant woman, was on her way to a nearby hospital for a routine check-up when the accident occurred. Her death, along with that of her unborn child, has sent waves of grief throughout the community. The other victims include two elderly passengers and the driver of the e-rickshaw.
Immediate Response
Local authorities and bystanders rushed to the scene immediately after the accident. The injured were quickly transported to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared four of them dead on arrival. The fifth passenger is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in critical condition.
