Saralnama30-year-old Rafika Begum died on when an unknown vehicle hit her scooter in Almora, Uttarakhand. The impact sent her and her husband Bapi Mandal down a deep ravine. Mandal survived with serious injuries. The couple, originally from Bengal but living in Almora's Gopaldhara, were returning from Kasar Devi with relatives. They had stopped to take photos near Uday Shankar Dance Academy when the accident occurred. Police and SDRF teams rescued Mandal from a pine tree 30 meters down. Rafika was found unconscious on the roadside and declared dead at the district hospital. Police are investigating and searching for the hit-and-run driver.
