Spotify Launches Direct Messaging Feature for Music Sharing
Saralnama

Spotify has introduced a new direct messaging feature for its app users. This feature lets both free and premium users aged 16 and above send messages and share music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly within the app. Users can send messages by tapping the share icon in the Now Playing section and selecting a friend. The recipient can accept or reject the message request. The feature is currently available in select markets on Android and iOS, with web access planned later. Indian users will get this feature in the next few months. Spotify says messages are encrypted and allow emoji reactions and text replies. This update aims to make sharing content easier without leaving the app, complementing existing social media sharing options. Spotify has also recently revised its subscription prices in India and other regions to support new features and manage costs. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 08:48 IST; source: link)
