September 29, 2025, Ziro — Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited the Ziro Music Festival in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday and was warmly welcomed by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The visit highlights the growing cultural exchange between the two Himalayan states. Sikkim recently became the first state ever to be named State Partner of the nationally acclaimed Ziro Music Festival.

Chief Minister Tamang is leading a 200-plus member delegation from Sikkim. The group includes government officials, media professionals, adventure riders, and tourism stakeholders who traveled to Ziro Valley for this unique partnership.

Sikkim has set up a dedicated pavilion at the festival showcasing ‘Make in Sikkim’ brands and local products. Visitors are tasting delicacies prepared by Self Help Groups and learning about Sikkim’s tourism potential.

The Ziro Music Festival is celebrating its 13th edition this year. Founded in 2012, it is known for sustainability and strong community involvement. The festival attracts music lovers and cultural enthusiasts from across India.

Chief Minister Khandu praised Sikkim’s participation and called it a model for inter-state cooperation in promoting Northeast tourism. He expressed hope that such partnerships would continue strengthening bonds between Himalayan states.

For Sikkim, this partnership offers an opportunity to present itself as a destination for adventure, culture, and organic living. Tourism stakeholders are building new networks and exploring collaboration opportunities.

The visit reflects Chief Minister Tamang’s vision of empowering youth through exposure to innovative cultural platforms. Last year, Sikkim’s partnership at Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival proved successful for many young participants.
