Jains celebrated Lord Mahavir's 2552nd Nirvana festival in Sikar. Devotees offered Nirvana laddoos at Mahavir Swami Temple and other Jain temples after chanting Nirvana Kand Bhasha. The festival marks the beginning of the Jain New Year, which starts after Diwali. It commemorates Lord Mahavir's attainment of moksha. The Vir Nirvana Samvat, the Jain calendar, began in 527 BCE and is one of India's oldest timekeeping systems.
