DMK deputy general secretary and MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will be conferred the Periyar Award at the party’s annual Mupperum Vizha celebrations in Karur on September 17, 2025. The award, named after rationalist leader EV Ramasamy 'Periyar', recognizes contributions to social reform and the Dravidian movement. Kanimozhi has been acknowledged for her advocacy of language rights, federalism, and social justice in Parliament and public life. Other awardees include Suba Seetharaman (Anna Award), So. Ma. Ramachandran (Kalaignar Award), Kulithalai Sivaraman (Pavendar Award), Marudhur Ramalingam (Perasiriyar Award), and former minister Pongalur N Palanisamy (MK Stalin Award). The awards honor senior party leaders and grassroots workers for their roles in strengthening the DMK and its ideological legacy. The event will be presided over by DMK president MK Stalin in Karur.
