First Information Reports have been filed against Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for allegedly posting derogatory and defamatory content about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. In Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, an FIR was registered following a complaint by BJP MLA Milind Ramji Narote, who alleged Yadav called Modi a 'liar' and posted a song accusing him of lying repeatedly. The FIR cites sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to promoting hatred, public mischief, and defamation. In Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur, an FIR was filed based on a complaint by BJP city unit chief Shilpi Gupta, alleging Yadav's comments caused public anger and resentment. Yadav responded by stating he is not afraid of FIRs and will continue to speak the truth. These incidents coincided with Modi's visit to Gaya, Bihar, where he inaugurated development projects. The FIRs come ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections expected later this year. (Updated 23 Aug 2025, 15:10 IST; source: link)
