The six-lane bridge over the Narmada River in Mortakka village, Khargone district, is expected to open for vehicular traffic by October 2025, easing congestion on the Indore-Khandwa National Highway 347BG. Land acquisition is underway for gauge conversion of the Mhow-Barwaha section and the new Indore-Dahod railway line, which will connect Dahod to Indore via several towns including Pithampur. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is also progressing on the construction of 64 km Western and 82.5 km Eastern bypasses around Indore, requiring significant land acquisition. Additionally, the industry department is developing new industrial areas in Lalbagh, Dhar, Khargone, and Jhabua districts. These updates were shared during a collectors’ conference chaired by Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh, which reviewed various infrastructure projects including railways, highways, and preparations for Simhastha-2028. Officials from NHAI, Railways, and other departments attended the meeting to discuss project progress and land acquisition efforts for ongoing and upcoming developments in the division.
