The Indian Institute of Technology Madras signed a ₹1 crore licensing agreement with Indraka Quantum Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for the transfer of its silicon photonics-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) technology developed at its Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems. The agreement was formalized on August 18, 2025, in Chennai, with IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology scientist Sankhadip Das present. The QRNG technology has applications in IT security, cryptographic algorithms, quantum key distribution, scientific modeling, financial transactions, blockchain, OTP generation, and gaming.
