A Ganesh idol procession in Hyderabad's Bandlaguda area ended in tragedy on Monday evening when a 23-foot idol being transported on a tractor caused panic near high-tension wires. Two men, Dhoni (21) and Vikas (20), died on the spot, while a third, Akhil, was seriously injured and hospitalized. Police registered a case and launched an investigation, awaiting post-mortem and forensic reports. The Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited clarified there was no electrocution, with Superintending Engineer Sriram Mohan stating the idol did not contact the 33 kV high-tension line and no wire damage was observed. Mohan indicated the victims likely fell from the trolley, causing fatal injuries, and ruled out negligence by the electricity department. The incident remains under further inquiry by authorities.
