US Open 2025 Mixed Doubles Debuts Fast-Track Format With Star Lineup

The 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles event will take place over two days, August 19-20, during Fan Week at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, with matches on Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadiums. The 16-team draw includes eight direct entries based on singles rankings and eight wild cards, featuring top players such as Jessica Pegula & Jack Draper, Iga Swiatek & Casper Ruud, Novak Djokovic & Olga Danilovic, and Emma Raducanu & Carlos Alcaraz. The format is compressed, with best-of-three sets to four games in early rounds and six games in the final, no-ad scoring, and a 10-point match tie-break instead of a full third set. The winning team will receive $1 million in prize money. The new format has faced criticism from doubles specialists who feel disadvantaged, while some singles players support it. Matches start at 11 AM local time and will be broadcast on Star Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar. Withdrawals from some players led to changes in pairings. The event aims to increase visibility by scheduling matches on the main stadium courts during qualifying week, differing from previous years when mixed doubles ran alongside the main draw.
