Lucknow, September 27 – Burglars struck at the locked residence of Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yamuna Prasad in Vikas Nagar, escaping with valuables and cash, police confirmed.

The incident came to light on September 23, when Prasad’s relative, Asit Siddharth, visited the house with an electricity staffer and found the window grill cut open.

According to the FIR registered at Vikas Nagar police station, the burglars decamped with ₹50,000 cash, 10 silver coins, three wristwatches, two wall clocks, silver utensils and even bathroom taps.

Police said cupboards across multiple rooms were vandalised, suggesting a planned break-in. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to track the culprits.

Senior officials assured the case is being pursued on priority. “Teams have been deployed, and efforts are underway to identify those involved,” said a police officer.

Notably, DCP Yamuna Prasad had earlier gained attention for exposing the luxury ambulance row involving gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in 2021, a case that led to Ansari’s transfer to Banda jail.
