2 min read

Noida, September 27: The UP International Trade Show at Greater Noida Expo Mart, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marked a landmark day for the region. With thousands of exhibitors and global buyers, the event positions Noida as a rising business hub, promising major economic opportunities.

Amid the celebrations, social issues cast a shadow, with the tragic suicide of a woman allegedly harassed for not bearing a son. The incident has reignited debate on gender bias, women’s safety, and mental health awareness.

At the community level, Ramleela festivities are engaging citizens with a blend of tradition and modern performances, while Spectrum@Metro’s Dandiya Night added festive cheer to the city’s cultural calendar. Adding to civic engagement, the Noida Police launched their new ‘Coffee with Cops’ café, designed to improve transparency and give residents a direct platform to raise concerns.

On the flip side, crime and safety concerns persisted. A burglary at a Noida DCP’s Lucknow residence, the suspicious death of a 52-year-old man in EcoTech-1 over a money dispute, and a drunk-driving crash involving three vehicles highlighted the city’s law and order challenges. However, police were swift in arresting an Uber driver accused of threatening a passenger, signaling improved response systems.

Residents of Jaypee Wish Town continued to struggle with water shortages, as incomplete pipeline work delayed supply, sparking calls for urgent infrastructure upgrades.

With business growth, cultural vibrancy, and civic innovation on one side, and pressing social as well as safety issues on the other, Noida stands at a crucial juncture, reflecting both its progress and persistent challenges.
