Noida, September 26, 2025: Police detained several Congress workers in Greater Noida on Thursday as they tried to march towards the India Expo Mart, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the UPITS trade show.
Led by district president Deepak Bhati Chotiwala, the protesters raised slogans over farmers’ issues and the party’s ‘Vote Chori Abhiyan’ campaign. They gathered at the JP Greens roundabout and attempted to move towards the venue.
Police stopped the group near the Alpha Commercial Belt roundabout. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shaivya Goel held talks with the workers, urging them to disperse. When they refused, they were taken into custody.
Officials confirmed that over 70 Congress members were detained, while several farmers and Samajwadi Party leaders were also placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure.
The demonstration coincided with PM Modi’s high-profile visit to the trade show, drawing heavy security arrangements across Noida and Greater Noida.
