Sep 22, 2025, Noida: For thousands of commuters, navigating Noida’s main roads has turned into a daily battle against endless freight trucks. From Sector 62 to 16 and across industrial hubs, long queues of goods carriers have turned peak-hour travel into a nightmare. Now, Noida Authority has unveiled a City Logistics Plan (CLP) to address the menace.
Residents say heavy vehicles routinely block narrow lanes and intersections. “Crossing Sector 62 every morning feels like punishment. Trucks are parked everywhere, and traffic barely moves,” said Rakesh Yadav, a software professional who spends nearly an extra hour commuting daily. Parents too complain of delays. “My daughter’s school bus often reaches 30–40 minutes late. The trucks outside warehouses leave no space for cars to pass,” said homemaker Meena Sharma from Sector 12.
Shopkeepers argue that customer footfall has dropped. “People avoid coming here in the evening because of jams. My sales have gone down,” said Rajesh Gupta, who runs an electronics store in Sector 16.
Experts warn the problem will only worsen with the rise of e-commerce and warehousing activity. “If freight traffic is not segregated, Noida’s main arteries will collapse under the load,” said urban planner Anil Khanna.
In response, Noida Authority confirmed that a consultant will be appointed by October 27 to map dedicated truck corridors, create loading zones, and suggest restrictions on entry during peak hours. Officials said logistics parks on the city’s outskirts are also being planned.
“We want passenger movement to be smooth and hassle-free. Freight will be diverted to specific routes,” a senior Authority spokesperson said.
For weary commuters, the plan sounds promising, but skepticism remains. “We’ve heard such promises before. Until it’s enforced on ground, nothing will change,” said Yadav.
