Sep 22, 2025, Noida: In a rare show of defiance, members of a cooperative housing society staged a sit-in protest on Monday, locking society gates and demanding urgent action on long-pending governance lapses and ignored complaints.

Protesters gathered with placards outside the society office and later at the Noida Authority headquarters, underscoring the rise of civic activism in the city. “We’ve been patient for too long,” said protest organizer Neha Gupta. “Broken lifts, poor security, financial irregularities — enough is enough.”

Residents alleged that maintenance charges remain high while services continue to decline. “We pay hefty fees but get substandard facilities,” said resident Vikash Kumar. “Our complaints are brushed aside. Now they’ll have to listen.”

Authorities have initiated reconciliation talks, urging both sides to find common ground. However, residents remain firm, demanding greater transparency and accountability from management committees.

The agitation reflects broader dissatisfaction across Noida, where similar protests are reportedly increasing in other housing societies. Many residents warn they are prepared for a prolonged standoff if their concerns remain unaddressed.
