June 1, 2024, Ghaziabad: In a resounding victory, BJP candidate Atul Garg has won the Ghaziabad Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 3 lakh votes. The Congress candidate, Dolly Sharma, secured the second position in this electoral battle. With this win, the BJP has retained its hold on the Ghaziabad seat for the fourth consecutive term. The counting of votes, which began on Tuesday morning, saw Atul Garg establishing and maintaining a lead from the very beginning until the final result.
The Ghaziabad Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a total of 14 candidates vying for the seat. The BJP had placed its trust in Atul Garg, replacing its current MP VK Singh. The Congress chose Dolly Sharma, while the Bahujan Samaj Party picked Nandkishore Pundir as their candidate. However, from the start of the vote counting on Tuesday morning, Atul Garg kept a steady lead, finally winning by a big margin of 3 lakh votes. The BJP workers celebrated the win with great joy at the counting center, dancing and shouting slogans like “BJP Zindabad” and “Modi-Yogi Zindabad.” Atul Garg thanked the people of Ghaziabad, saying that this victory belongs to them.
Reacting to his victory, Atul Garg said, “I am very grateful for the love and support shown by the people of Ghaziabad. This win shows their trust in the BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. I promise to work very hard for the growth and well-being of Ghaziabad and its people.”
The Ghaziabad Lok Sabha seat has been a BJP stronghold since the 2009 general elections. In 2009, BJP’s Rajnath Singh won the seat. After that, in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, General VK Singh of the BJP won the seat. In the 2019 election, VK Singh got a total of 944,503 votes, while his closest rival, Suresh Bansal of the Samajwadi Party, got 443,003 votes. This meant VK Singh won by a margin of 501,500 votes.
Atul Garg’s victory will have a big impact on the politics of Ghaziabad and the nearby areas. As a fourth-term BJP MP, he is expected to use his position to bring development projects and plans to the region. The people of Ghaziabad have high hopes from their newly elected leader. Even though he won by a bigger margin in 2022 compared to 2017, he was not given a minister’s post. The 62-year-old Atul Garg, who lives in Kavinagar, owns several well-known schools and colleges. Born on August 26, 1957, in Ghaziabad, Garg is currently a State Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and represents the Ghaziabad Assembly area. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Garg’s victory in the Ghaziabad Lok Sabha elections is an important milestone in his political journey and strengthens the BJP’s hold in the region.
