Bareilly Violence: 69 Arrested, Main Conspirator Maulana Tauqeer Raza Sent to Jail

September 29, 2025, Bareilly — Police have taken strict action in the Bareilly violence case that erupted after Friday prayers on September 26, arresting 69 rioters so far, including 15 who were recently detained and sent to jail.

Weapons including pistols, cartridges, bricks, and stones have been recovered from the arrested accused. Police are identifying remaining suspects using CCTV footage and drone surveillance from the incident site.

The main conspirator, Maulana Tauqeer Raza, has been arrested and sent to Farrukhabad jail. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the entire incident thoroughly.

The violence broke out after Friday prayers on September 26 when protesters took to the streets. The situation turned violent with stone pelting targeting police personnel and damage to public property in several areas of the city.

Police used force to control the mob and restore order in affected areas. Heavy security deployment continues in sensitive locations across Bareilly to prevent any further disturbances.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a strict stance against those spreading violence. He has directed officials to identify all culprits and take strongest action under the law against them.

Police are analyzing video evidence from multiple sources to identify more accused involved in the rioting. “We are using advanced technology including facial recognition to track down all those who participated in violence,” a senior police official said.

The arrested accused have been booked under various sections related to rioting, assault on police, and damage to public property. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace and harmony.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected as police continue identifying suspects through footage analysis. Administration has appealed to citizens to maintain peace and not believe in rumors.
