Ghaziabad, September 27: Public health and transport dominated Ghaziabad’s day, as authorities balanced festival preparations, disease control, and infrastructure expansion.
To support the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Ghaziabad has temporarily diverted its city e-buses from routes including Kaushambi, Loni, and Dilshad Garden. Passengers will face inconvenience till September 29. Officials admitted that nearly 20 of the city’s 50 e-buses are already out of service due to battery issues.
On the health front, officials imposed fines on residents failing to maintain hygiene standards. Inspections found mosquito larvae in domestic water storage, leading to penalties as part of the anti-dengue and malaria campaign. Authorities said intensified monitoring in vulnerable areas will continue.
Traffic management also saw updates. Officials clarified that major routes like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Meerut Road will not face immediate closures for the Kanwar Yatra. Any restrictions will be announced in advance, based on pilgrim movement.
In a major boost to long-term infrastructure, plans for a four-lane flyover from Hapur Chungi to Govindpuram police lines were announced. Officials said the project will ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity within the city.
Ghaziabad’s day showcased its dual priorities of citizen welfare and infrastructure growth, reflecting the challenges of managing a fast-expanding urban centre.
