Noida, September 27: A series of crime and civic developments kept Noida in focus, underscoring challenges to public safety and infrastructure despite rapid urban growth.
Police booked eight youths for staging a dangerous act near Bisrakh Kotwali, where they fired shots at their own car and falsely reported an attack. One suspect is already in custody while others with criminal records remain under watch. Authorities say the act was designed to create panic, and investigations into possible motives are ongoing.
In another case, the body of Mohammad Qureshi, a 52-year-old animal trader, was found near Galgotias and NIU universities in the EcoTech-1 area on September 25. Missing since September 23, he was discovered with multiple injuries. Police suspect a financial dispute led to his murder and have identified several suspects.
Meanwhile, police arrested a 25-year-old man for secretly installing a webcam inside a paying guest washroom. The victim noticed suspicious evidence, leading to swift action. Authorities urged vigilance and reporting of privacy violations.
Road safety remained under pressure. A drunk driver rammed into three vehicles, injuring students, while a fatal bike crash in Sector 63A claimed the life of a young rider. Investigations into both incidents are underway.
On civic services, Jaypee Wish Town residents continued to face water shortages. The Noida Authority admitted that incomplete pipeline projects dating back two decades have delayed supply, but promised rectification by October 10.
The day reflected Noida’s dual reality — booming economic identity contrasted with recurring law-and-order issues and civic gaps demanding urgent resolution.
