Delhi News: World Para Athletics Opens, City Blends Sports And Culture

New Delhi, September 27: The capital turned into a global sports stage as the World Para Athletics Championships 2025 began today, attracting athletes from around the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, welcoming participants, described the event as a “celebration of determination and inclusivity,” underlining India’s commitment to empowering athletes with disabilities. The championship is expected to inspire greater acceptance of para sports across the country.

Alongside sports, Delhi’s cultural calendar remains packed. The Sachet-Parampara concert at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium drew thousands of fans. Meanwhile, the theatre production “Jaun Meri Jaan” revived the poetry of Jaun Elia, and the IHC Theatre Festival showcased plays such as “Lifafiya.”

Art lovers flocked to Art Asia Delhi 2025, which continues to host international and Indian artists. Traditional Ramleela festivities also began, reinforcing Delhi’s ability to blend heritage with contemporary culture.

With sports and culture converging, the capital has projected itself as a city that balances global recognition with deep-rooted traditions. The Para Athletics Championships, paired with ongoing cultural vibrancy, highlight Delhi’s role as a center of excellence in both athletics and the arts.
