₹500 was illegally collected from Anita Kujur, a pregnant woman from Dattara village, by a 108 ambulance driver and assistant for transport to Chainpur Community Health Centre on Thursday. A nurse also allegedly demanded ₹500 after delivery. In another case, Asha Devi from Kurumgarh reported nurses taking ₹200 for 'sweets' post-delivery. Gumla Deputy Commissioner Prerna Dixit ordered strict action, dismissing the ambulance driver and issuing a show-cause notice to the nurse. Suspension proceedings have begun. The Civil Surgeon was directed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms at all health centers to prevent such incidents and ensure transparency in healthcare services.
