Three devotees from Punjab died during the Manimahesh Yatra in Himachal Pradesh due to oxygen shortage, with two deaths occurring last night and one this morning. The deceased were identified as Aman (18) and Rohit (18) from Pathankot, and Anmol (26) from Gurdaspur. Aman was rescued from Kamal Kund but died at Gaurikund, Rohit died on the Kugti track, and Anmol passed away at Dhanchho. Their bodies are being brought to Bharmour for post-mortem. The local administration has temporarily suspended the pilgrimage due to continuous heavy rainfall causing landslides and blocking the Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway, leaving many pilgrims stranded. The Manimahesh Yatra officially began on August 16 and is scheduled to end on August 31. This year, 14 devotees have died during the pilgrimage from causes including oxygen shortage, landslides, and falling rocks. Authorities have instructed pilgrims to stay at safe locations until conditions improve. (Updated 25 Aug 2025, 12:26 IST; source: link)
