Dr C M Nagesh, Director of Cardiology at Cardea Super Speciality Hospital in Bengaluru, explains that hustle culture promotes being constantly active, even at odd hours. However, human bodies are not designed for continuous high stress. Prolonged exposure keeps individuals in fight-or-flight mode, with elevated cortisol and adrenaline levels. Although this may initially feel energizing, it eventually disrupts blood pressure, blood sugar, sleep quality, and immunity.
