‘Morning people are more productive than night people,’ say Akshay Kumar-Twinkle

2 min read

The debate over whether morning or night people are more productive gained attention in the latest episode of Two Much, hosted by Twinkle Khanna and Kajol. Khanna claimed that morning people are more productive, while Kajol strongly disagreed. Akshay Kumar supported his wife, noting that their show started at 10.30 am and would wrap up soon, suggesting morning efficiency. Saif Ali Khan was identified as not being a morning person. Medical experts clarified that productivity depends on individual circadian rhythms. Night owls are naturally alert in the evening, while early birds excel in the morning. Dr Navneet Sood from Delhi's Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital explained that preference is influenced by genetics and lifestyle. Dr J Harikishan from Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad, highlighted that both chronotypes have unique benefits and drawbacks, and the best choice aligns with one's natural body clock.

Understanding Morning and Night Chronotypes

Medical professionals explain that being a night owl or early bird depends on individual circadian rhythms. Dr Navneet Sood, senior consultant in pulmonary and sleep medicine at Delhi's Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, stated that night owls are more alert in the evening, while early birds excel in the morning. Dr J Harikishan from Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad, noted that night owls find it easier to stay awake late and struggle with early mornings. Conversely, early birds are naturally productive during early hours and prefer going to bed earlier. Dr Sood emphasized that this preference is subjective and influenced by genetics. The best approach is aligning with your natural body clock and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule.
