Model Barbara Palvin recently spoke about her experience with endometriosis surgery, which she underwent in June 2025. Before walking the runway at the 2025 Victoria's Secret fashion show, she told E News that the procedure made a dramatic difference in her life, describing it as 'day and night.' Although surgery is not a cure for endometriosis, it significantly helped ease her symptoms. Her husband, actor Dylan Sprouse, provided strong support during her recovery. Earlier in August, Palvin had shared her journey on social media, revealing years of painful periods, fatigue, and irregular flow. She encouraged women experiencing similar symptoms to seek specialist advice, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis. Endometriosis affects over 42 million women in India and occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing severe pain and other complications.

Understanding Endometriosis and Treatment Options
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue resembling the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, often on the ovaries, pelvic lining, rectum, and bladder. It primarily affects women of reproductive age. Common symptoms include severe menstrual cramps, heavy bleeding, pain during intercourse, painful urination, extreme fatigue, and nausea. Dr Prabha Agrawal, a senior consultant at CARE Hospitals in Hyderabad, notes that mild cases can be managed with pain medication and hormonal therapy. However, when medication fails, surgical intervention may be necessary to remove endometriotic tissue and scar formations. In severe cases or when pregnancy is difficult, doctors may recommend medical therapy before conception attempts to restore normal reproductive function. Each treatment plan is highly customized to the individual patient's needs.
