He described sweet potato as his regular breakfast choice because it provided both protein and carbohydrates at an affordable price. Malhotra's story highlights the difficulties faced by outsiders trying to establish themselves in the competitive Hindi film industry. Sweet potatoes are rich in fibre, especially soluble fibre, which aids digestion and promotes satiety. A medium-sized sweet potato provides around 10–13% of daily potassium, helping regulate blood pressure and prevent muscle cramps. According to CV Aishwarya, a clinical nutritionist at Sri Ramachandra Institute in Chennai, sweet potatoes contain essential macronutrients like starch, dietary fibre, and protein, along with vitamins B complex, C, E, and provitamin A. Baking enhances beta-carotene absorption and caramelises natural sugars for better taste. However, people with diabetes should exercise caution due to the high glycemic index, and those with kidney disease should moderate intake because of high potassium levels. Sweet potatoes also contain more carbohydrates and proteins than many other root crops.
