Television actor Yuvika Chaudhary has shared her difficult experience with fertility treatment, revealing that it took her three years and multiple failed attempts before she successfully conceived her daughter, Ekleen, through IVF in 2024. Speaking to Hauterrfly, she described the journey as emotionally and financially draining. She encountered an unethical doctor who charged her heavily and told her she could not become a mother naturally, advising donor eggs instead. This shattered her confidence when she was 38 years old. Her first IVF cycle cost around Rs 2.5 lakh, involving daily injections and immense mental strain. The clinic even warned that they would not take responsibility if she did not wake up from anaesthesia during the egg collection procedure, prompting her and her husband Prince to abandon that cycle, wasting the entire amount. Eventually, she found a trustworthy doctor who helped her conceive successfully.

Dr Gaana Sreenivas, an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Bone and Birth Clinic and Rainbow Hospital, emphasizes that fertility specialists must communicate with empathy, transparency, and scientific clarity. Even when success chances are low, patients deserve dignified and honest communication. She advises couples to verify whether a clinic is registered under the Assisted Reproductive Technology Act, check the credentials of doctors and embryologists, and ask for documented success rates instead of verbal promises. Seeking a second opinion is also recommended. Dr Sreenivas warns that the rapid growth of IVF centres has led to some prioritizing commercial motives over ethics, making informed decision-making crucial for patients.
