Noida celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025 alongside the launch of its first semiconductor assembly plant, marking a significant step in India's high-tech industrial growth. Established in 1976, Noida, part of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, has evolved into a major electronics and technology hub with over 15,000 industrial units. The region benefits from strategic infrastructure including the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, expected to open by the end of 2025. This airport will enhance global cargo and passenger connectivity, supporting semiconductor manufacturing. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has developed over 5,000 acres of industrial land with utilities like 24/7 power and water supply, including 1,000 acres near Jewar dedicated to semiconductor units. Central and Uttar Pradesh state governments provide strong policy incentives, including a $10 billion India Semiconductor Mission and the UP-Semiconductor Policy 2024, offering capital subsidies and land discounts. The HCL-Foxconn joint venture received government approval to establish a ₹3,706 crore OSAT facility near Jewar, producing display driver chips with a capacity of 20,000 wafers per month. Noida’s existing electronics ecosystem and access to skilled talent from premier institutions further support its emergence as a semiconductor manufacturing hub.
