Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a 10 percent horizontal reservation for demobilized Agniveers in government uniformed Group C posts, including police constable, sub-inspector, fireman, jail guard, forest guard, excise constable, and secretariat security guard. The Department of Personnel and Vigilance issued the Horizontal Reservation Rules–2025 formalizing this provision, which also exempts former Agniveers from physical efficiency tests and grants age relaxation equal to their service period. The decision includes appointments in the Tiger Protection Force. Additionally, the state increased ex-gratia payments for families of martyred soldiers from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh and for Param Vir Chakra awardees from ₹50 lakh to ₹1.5 crore, with one family member of a martyr eligible for a government job. To honor the state’s military heritage, the Military Dham in Dehradun has been completed as a memorial to valor and sacrifice. CM Dhami emphasized the government’s commitment to providing respect and employment opportunities to ex-servicemen and Agniveers, reflecting Uttarakhand’s identity as the Land of the Brave.
