The Supreme Court dismissed a special leave petition filed by an alleged encroacher, P. Satyanarayana, regarding a Rs 100 crore land parcel in Jubilee Hills belonging to the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society. The land, covering about 2,000 square yards and earmarked for public utilities, had been illegally occupied by Satyanarayana, who operated a nursery there. Following a complaint by the society president, HYDRAA conducted an inquiry, issued a showcause notice, and ordered removal of the encroachments. The High Court had earlier dismissed Satyanarayana’s writ petition, upholding HYDRAA’s actions. After the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the special leave petition at the admission stage, HYDRAA proceeded with reclaiming the land. The society was represented by senior counsel Dama Seshadri Naidu and advocate E. Venkata Siddhartha before the Supreme Court. The reclaimed land is intended for public use as per the society’s layout plan. (Updated 29 Aug 2025, 21:39 IST; source: link)
